Renegades and CJRC Team Up

OTTAWA – Friday, June 21, 2002 – The Ottawa Renegades and CJRC AM 1150 (of Astral Media) are pleased to announce that they have reached an agreement to allow the Gatineau radio station to become the official francophone radio broadcaster of the football club for both home and away games.

The first of possibly eighteen contests will be broadcast by the radio station on Friday, June 28, as the ‘Gaders play their inaugural regular season game in franchise history, as the club will play host to the Saskatchewan Roughriders. Experienced play-by-play man Michel Langevin will be accompanied in the booth by an as yet to be determined colour man, who will be announced in the coming days, as well as Sébastien Bois, who will be reporting throughout the game from the sidelines.

"The Renegades will have a good team on the field and will put on a show in the stands will be second to none," explained Craig Purcell, vice president of business and community development. "The radio broadcast of our games in french is a key way to display that."

According to Sylvie Charette, product manager for CJRC, it is excellent news for the Ottawa-Gatineau sports fan, "The broadcasting of Renegade games joins those of the Montreal Alouettes, Ottawa Senators, Montreal Expos, as well as junior hockey anf Formula 1 reports."

The first game broadcast on CJRC will be Friday, June 28, as the Renegades host the Saskatchewan Roughriders.
