Rip City Remix News Release
The Rip City Remix fell to the Stockton Kings in overtime, 106-104 on Sunday afternoon in Stockton. The Remix came out to a hot start scoring 37 points in the first frame to take a 14-point lead over the Kings. Both offenses came to a halt in the second quarter, with the Remix scoring just 14 points and the Kings being held to 18 points. Rip City topped Stockton by 10 points to go into the break, 51-41.
The Kings outscored the Remix 34-23 during the third quarter to come out on top 75-74 to head into the final frame. Kevin Knox II and Jazian Gortman combined to score 23 points out of the 25 scored by the Remix in the fourth quarter. The teams ended regulation tied at 99-99 to force an overtime.
The Kings struck first in the overtime period, but the teams traded baskets until it was tied at 104 each. The Remix committed a foul to put Deonte Burton at the line for the Kings, who reached the target score with two made free throws to end the game.
Kevin Knox II led the Rip City Remix with 27 points (11-21 FG) and logged a season-high with both 14 rebounds and five assists in the overtime loss. D'moi Hodge provided a spark off the bench with 25 points, along with a season-high nine rebounds and three assists. In his first start for the Remix, Jazian Gortman contributed a season-high with 21 points, along with a season-high eight rebounds and eight assists.
The Kings were led by Deonte Burton with 28 points, including all seven points in the overtime period. Two-way player, Mason Jones followed with 26 points, 10 assists and seven rebounds during the win. Dane Goodwin came off the bench to earn 15 points, seven rebounds and two assists for the Kings. Stanley Johnson (12 points, 10 rebounds) and Gabe Levin (10 points, 11 rebounds) each earned double-doubles in the win.
Next up: The Remix will travel to Ontario to face the Clippers on March 19 and 21 for a two-game series, both tipping off at 7 p.m. Fans can tune in on ESPN+.
