Edmonton Capitals News Release

Edmonton, AB - A reminder that the previously scheduled games on August 21st to the 23rd versus the Tijuana Potros have been cancelled. Due to the health risk issues that erupted world wide earlier this spring that resulted in sports facility closings, uncertainty of stadium availability, and government mandates limiting public gatherings in Mexico, the Golden Baseball League to made the decision to suspend the Tijuana franchise for the 2009 season.

The Capitals have been unable to find any opponents for league or exhibition play that would be a suitable replacement for those 3 dates at Telus Field so as a result, those games remain cancelled.

Any tickets held for the games August 21st, 22nd or 23rd can be exchanged for tickets to any of our remaining home games this week or the final weekend series of the regular season August 28th - 30th against the Calgary Vipers. Those can be redeemed at the Capitals Game Day Office during regular business hours between 8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. at Telus Field located at 10233-96 Avenue.

The series against the Edmonton Capitals and the Calgary Vipers resumes this evening at 7pm. Former Major League All-Star, Jose Lima will be the starting pitcher tonight. The fourth and final game of the series will happen tomorrow at 12:00pm, for the second business luncheon of the year.
