Amarillo Dillas News Release

AMARILLO, TX - The Amarillo Dillas showed a good time to the 4,742 fans on opening night at the Amarillo National Bank Dilla Villa as timely hitting and great relief pitching gave the Dillas a 11-8 win over the San Angelo Colts on Saturday night.

Dillas reliever Chris Ingoglia (1-0) got the win as he went three-and-a-third of relief, allowing two earned runs and striking out six batters. Colts reliever Scott Crook (0-1) got the loss as he went five innings of relief and gave up five runs but retired the last eight batters he faced. Dillas closer Ramon Geronimo got his first save as he went an inning-and-a-third, allowed only one hit and struck out two. Amarillo's Joaquin Rodriguez went 2-4 with a triple, three runs and three RBI in the effort.

The Dillas started the scoring early as Carlos Figueroa brought home a run with a double, while a Stephen Douglas walk with the bases loaded brought home another. With the bases still loaded, TJ Warren singled home a pair of Dillas with a two-RBI single for a 4-0 Dillas lead.

The Colts would chip away with two runs in the second, one in the third and a two-run homerun in the fourth by Butch Ballez gave San Angelo a 5-4 lead.

Amarillo retook the lead in the fourth as Joaquin Rodriguez stepped in with the bases loaded and delivered a triple to the left-centerfield gap to score Cory Wine, Adam DeLaGarza and Jermel Lomack to give the Dillas the lead. Rodriguez came across on a Figueroa sacrifice fly for a three-run lead. They would add another in the fifth as Douglas walked, stole second, took third on a groundout and scored on a Cory Wine single for a 9-5 lead.

The Colts would get one run back in the seventh on an error. In the eighth, the Colts brought a run across after a Ballez single and an RBI triple from Michael Pettibone, who would come across on a Ronnie Gaines groundout. With one out and runners on the corners, reliever Chris Ingoglia fell behind 3-0 to Adam Hale, but struck out the Colt. Geronimo came in and struck out Collazo on three straight pitches to preserve the lead at 9-8.

The Dillas added two more insurance runs in the eighth as Matt Ceriani singled home two runs with the bases loaded to extend the Amarillo lead to three runs. Geronimo finished off the Colts in the ninth to give the Dillas an 11-8 victory.
