LINCOLN, Neb. The Lincoln Stars open their doors for the first time this season to begin their return to the Clark Cup Playoffs on Friday, Oct. 6 at 7:35 p.m. against the Muskegon Lumberjacks at the Ice Box.

For the first time ever, fans have the opportunity to paint the Ice Box rink pink immediately following the game. With a donation of any size, fans can write messages of hope, Scripture verses, names, or pictures to honor and support those affected by cancer. They'll be joined by members of the Stars organization, including players and staff, in spreading their own individual messages. The event leads up to Pink In The Rink the following weekend, when the Stars will skate on those messages.

In addition, the first 2,500 fans in attendance will receive a free 2017-18 Lincoln Stars magnet schedule, courtesy of Clean Pro Commercial Cleaning.

Friday night marks the head coaching debut of Cody Chupp and his hockey staff. Chupp spent the last three seasons as an assistant coach with the Green Bay Gamblers. While with the Gamblers, Chupp helped guide the team to a 37-16-7 record during the 2015-16 season and develop players like 2017 NHL Draft 8th overall selection Casey Mittelstadt. He was also an assistant with Utica College during the 2013-14 season following his professional career in the American Hockey League (AHL) and ECHL.

The Stars also look to step on the right foot to begin the season with the one-game meeting against the Lumberjacks. Last season, the Stars began the season with a road win against Tri-City and went 2-1 in the first full opening weekend, which included two games at the Ice Box. The Stars dropped both games against the Lumberjacks last year during their home-and-home series. This will be the first of two meetings against Muskegon this season with the second following on November 25 on the road.
