Ontario Reign News Release

WEST VALLEY CITY, UT - The Ontario Reign (4-0-0), back-to-back Pacific Division Champions and proud affiliate of the NHL's 2012 Stanley Cup Champion Los Angeles Kings, made team history advancing to the second round of the Kelly Cup Playoff after beating the Utah Grizzlies (0-2-2) 2-1 in overtime at Maverik Center on Saturday night.

The Grizzlies were first on the board with a tally seven minutes into play. Jimmy Martin's slapshot beat JF Berube to give Utah a 1-0 lead which would carry through the entire second period and about 17 minutes into the third period.

Brodie Sheahan tied the game for the Reign in the final minutes of the third gathering a blocked shot from Nick Ebert and sending it in from the high slot. Similar to Friday's contest, the late Reign goal sent the game into sudden death overtime.

It only took 1:55 for the Reign to make history when Everett Sheen netted the game-winning goal to eliminate the Utah Grizzlies in a four games to none series sweep. D.J. King chased the puck behind the Grizzlies cage and sent it free from a Utah skater for Sheen to retrieve at the blue line. Sheen skated the puck in to the right circle where he ripped a shot past the glove of Shane Owen.

Berube earned the win saving 29 of 30 shots; Owen took the loss with 43 saves on 45 shots.

The Reign will advance to the second round of the Kelly Cup finals against either the Colorado Eagles or the Idaho Steelheads.

Three Stars:

1. ONT - Everett Sheen

2. ONT - Brodie Sheahan

3. UTA - Shane Owen
