Ontario Reign Face End of Season

ALLEN, Texas - The Ontario Reign (11-8), four-time ECHL Pacific Division Champions and proud ECHL affiliate of the NHL's 2014 Stanley Cup Champion Los Angeles Kings and Winnipeg Jets, saw their 2014-15 season come to an end following a 3-1 loss in Game 7 of the Western Conference Finals to the Allen Americans (12-6) in front of a crowd of 3,248 on Wednesday night at the Allen Event Center.
The Americans scored the first goal before the game was even two minutes old. Tyler Ludwig took a pass from Justin Baker and snapped a shot underneath the blocker of Joe Cannata at 1:18.
Tristan King tied it for Ontario in the second when he grabbed a Judd Blackwater rebound in the slot during a goalmouth scramble and slid the puck along the ice just past the left pad of Riley Gill at 16:13.
Allen pulled ahead again late in the frame when the Americans pinned Ontario in its own zone, allowing Baker to grab the puck and feed it to the middle for a streaking Gary Steffes, who beat Cannata at 19:12.
The Reign continued to battle late into the third period, but couldn't convert on a late power play opportunity, and Chris Crane sealed the game and series for the Americans with an empty-net goal at 19:25 to send the hosts to the Kelly Cup Finals.
Cannata took the loss with 22 saves; Gill earned the win with 29 stops.
