Reid Named ECHL Goaltender of the Week

Alaska Aces goaltender James Reid has been named the Reebok Hockey ECHL Goaltender of the Week for March 12-19, the Aces and the ECHL announced on Tuesday afternoon. It is Reid's first such award and the fifth that an Aces goaltender has received this season. The Aces will continue their season-ending road trip with a key visit to Ontario on Friday and Saturday night. They will return back home for the postseason in April. Reid, 21, was 2-0-0 with a 1.00 goals-against average and a save percentage of .949 in a pair of victories for Alaska last week. Reid opened the week with 16 saves in a 4-1 win at Colorado on Wednesday and followed that up with 21 saves in a 5-1 win against the Eagles on Saturday, helping the Aces to clinch their sixth division title in nine ECHL seasons.

A native of Calgary, Alberta, Reid has appeared in seven games with Alaska since being assigned by the Lake Erie Monsters of the American Hockey League. He is 5-1-1 with the Aces posting a 1.56 GAA and a save percentage of .931. He has held the opposition to one goal in five of his seven starts, and has allowed more than two goals just once.

Under contract to Lake Erie, Reid has also appeared in five games with the Monsters this season, and saw action in three games with the Allen Americans of the Central Hockey League. Prior to turning pro, Reid appeared in 128 games over three seasons with Spokane of the Western Hockey League posting a record of 85-30-9 with 13 shutouts, a GAA of 2.34 and a .917 save percentage.

Reid is the third Aces goaltender to win this award this season. Coleman received the honor in the first two weeks of the season, while Adam Courchaine earned the award in January and February.
