Dunedin Blue Jays News Release

DUNEDIN, FL - The Dunedin Blue Jays (1-0) used six scoreless innings from RHP Sean Reid-Foley (W, 2-0) and timely insurance runs to beat the Tampa Yankees (0-1) in the first game of the second half of the season. Reid-Foley struck out three batters and allowed the same number of hits while rehabbers LHP Franklin Morales (H, 1) and LHP Brett Cecil (H, 1) held down the fort.

The Jays struck first when SS Richard Urena scored on DH Emilio Guerrero's two-out double in the third inning off starter LHP James Reeves (L, 2-1). 1B Ryan McBroom was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded two innings later to put Dunedin up a pair.

After Reid-Foley dominated, Morales tossed a scoreless seventh inning. Cecil allowed a leadoff double to C Wes Wilson who later came around to score Tampa's lone run on a SS Jorge Mateo bunt single. Both rehabbers struck out a pair. Cecil's whiffs came with Mateo, the tying run, standing at second base to end the inning.

The Jays added some insurance in the ninth off RHP Gabriel Encinas. A pair of wild pitches combined with two walks and two singles merited four runs to put the game away. RF Jonathan Davis extended his on-base streak to 23 games with a walk and a single in the contest.

Dunedin looks to win their sixth game in a row with RHP Francisco Rios on the mound while Tampa send out LHP Ian Clarkin. First pitch is set for 7:00 pm at George M. Steinbrenner Field.
