New Hampshire Fisher Cats News Release
New Britain, CT- The Toronto Blue Jays announced today that Brandon League is joining the Double-A New Hampshire Fisher Cats on a Major League rehabilitation assignment. League, 24, was a member of the Fisher Cats' 2004 Eastern League Championship Team, posting a record of 6-4 with two saves and a 3.38 ERA in 41 appearances, including 10 starts. He racked up 90 strikeouts in 104 innings. In the 2004 playoffs, League went 2-0 with one save in four appearances, earning the Eastern League Championship Series Most Valuable Player Award.
The Blue Jays placed League on the 60-Day Disabled List March 31 with a sore right shoulder. The right-hander is expected to make a relief appearance during the Fisher Cats/Rock Cats doubleheader on Sunday afternoon.
League made two rehab appearances with the Single-A Dunedin Blue Jays of the Florida State League. In three innings, he allowed three runs and notched three strikeouts.
Originally a Blue Jays' second round draft pick out of high school in 2001, the Honolulu, HI native has a career Major League record of 3-2 with one save in 56 games between 2004 and 2006. League made his Blue Jays' debut on September 21, 2004 at Yankee Stadium just three days after recording the final out of the Fisher Cats' championship season at Gill Stadium.
The Fisher Cats return to Merchantsauto.com Stadium on Tuesday, June 12 to host the Akron Aeros at 7:05pm.
