Rio Grande Valley WhiteWings News Release
Laredo, TX - Tonight's scheduled game between the first half champion Rio Grande Valley WhiteWings and the Laredo Broncos will be the United League regular season finale, with games scheduled for Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday being cancelled due to the threat of Hurricane Dean.
The WhiteWings were scheduled to end the season at home with the San Angelo Colts.
It was not immediately clear how this will affect the playoffs. The United League Championship Series between the WhiteWings and Alexandria Aces is scheduled to begin on Friday at 7:05 p.m. at Harlingen Field.
Tuesday's game was supposed to be Los Fresnos Community Night with a shirt off the players' backs promotion and Wednesday was to be South Padre/Port Isabel Community Night as well as Fan Appreciation night with a fireworks show afterwards.
Plans on what will be done for fans who already purchased tickets for the three games this week are expected to be announced tomorrow.
