United League Cancels Season's Final Series
August 19, 2007 - United League Baseball (ULB) News Release
United League Baseball announced today that the final three games of the 2007 regular season have been cancelled for all six teams due to the impending threat of Hurricane Dean. This action is taken for the safety of our fans, players, coaches, and front office personnel.
"With four of our teams playing in the Rio Grande Valley and the impending threat of Hurricane Dean hitting landfall in the Valley, pubic safety necessitates this action," stated League President, Craig Brasfield. The Edinburg Coyotes were to host the Laredo Broncos; the Rio Grande Valley WhiteWings were to host the San Angelo Colts; and the Alexandria Aces were to host the Amarillo Dillas. All three series will not be played nor rescheduled.
The first game of the United League's Championship Series, featuring the Alexandria Aces and the Rio Grande Valley WhiteWings, remains scheduled for Friday August 24th at Harlingen Stadium. Fans are requested to check the League website regarding any scheduling changes to the Championship Series due to Hurricane Dean.
