Regina, Saskatchewan - Sam Steel and Nick Henry each had a goal and an assist to lead the Pats to a 4-3 win over the Calgary Hitmen on Wednesday night at the Brandt Centre. Emil Oksanen got the scoring started with a powerplay goal early in the first, his 11th of the year. Calgary tied it up five minutes later with a powerplay goal of their own, but Sam Steel would respond for Regina with his sixth of the season and it was 2-1 after 20 minutes. In the second, Matt Bradley gave the Pats a 3-1 lead when he snapped his 16th into the top of the net. However, 33 second later, Tristen Nielsen tipped home a point shot to bring Calgary to within a goal heading to the third period. In the final frame, Nick Henry would swat his first of the year out of midair, just 15 seconds in, and again the Pats had a two goal lead.
The Hitmen powerplay got them back to within a goal at 10:42, but Regina would hold on from there for the 4-3 victory. The Pats outshot the Hitmen 40-28, the powerplay was one for four and the penalty kill two for four. Sam Steel and Nick Henry each had a goal and an assist to lead the offence while Max Paddock made 25 saves. The Pats (12-8-2-0) will kick off their five game U.S. Division road trip on Saturday night in Portland against the Winterhawks at 8 p.m. Regina time on 620 CKRM.
