SALINAS, Calif. - The Warriors Community Foundation and Santa Cruz Warriors along with The California Endowment (TCE), Building Healthy Communities (BHC), Good Tidings Foundation and the City of Salinas will unveil fully refurbished basketball courts at César Chavez Community Park at 3:00 p.m. on October 25.

The Warriors Community Foundation and Good Tidings Foundation have refurbished more than 50 basketball courts through the "Makin' Hoops" program, helping to revitalize local neighborhoods and communities. Courts are resurfaced and receive new backboards, nets, rims, striping and benches. The courts at César Chavez Park are an important step towards expanding the program to more rural, historically underserved communities such as Salinas.

"BHC is proud to participate in this initiative," said Andrea Manzo, Hub Manager for BHC. "It will advance the current Governing for Racial Equity work being done in our partnership with the City of Salinas as well as increase access to healthy activities in farm worker communities which is important to TCE's 'Health Happens Here' initiative."

Speakers at the unveiling will include Salinas Mayor Joe Gunter and Councilmember Gloria De La Rosa, Santa Cruz Warriors Head Coach Casey Hill, Good Tidings Foundation Founder Larry Harper and TCE East Salinas Program Officer Lauren Padilla-Valverde. Sunday will also include a raffle at 3:30 p.m. as well as a youth basketball clinic led by Gil Basketball Academy of Salinas and Santa Cruz Warriors player Daniel Nwaelele at 3:45 p.m.
