Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks News Release

In front of the largest crowd of the year with 5,136 fans, the RedHawks defeated the T-Bones 10-4 at Newman Outdoor Field in Fargo. The win brought their record back up to five hundred at 22-22 and snapped their seven-game losing streak at home while Kansas City fell to 22-22.

A quick series of outs kept it scoreless until the home team bats started cracking in the bottom of the third. Carlo Cota reached on a walk and advanced to second on a sacrifice bunt by Zach Penprase. Joe Mathis ripped a single up the middle to score Cota and give the RedHawks a 1-0 advantage. Mathis then made his way around and scored off a Ruben Salazar single into left field. Following Salazar, newly acquired Jimmy Hurst crushed a two-run double out to the left center warning track before the T-Bones were finally able to retire the sizzling RedHawks. The RedHawks scored four runs on four hits off Chris Rhoads in the third.

The flawless fielding and ace pitching by the RedHawks held the T-Bones to just three hits after six innings. RedHawks' All-Star, Alan Rick, notched his first stolen base of the season when he stole second and then advanced to third on a pass ball. Jeff Eure sent him home with an infield single. Eure scored off an infield single by Penprase as well giving the RedHawks a 6-0 lead.

The T-Bones were finally able to get on the board in the seventh when Dane Renkert walked the bases loaded. All runs eventually came in to score highlighted by a John Martin two-run double. Adam Rowe came in to relieve Renkert after 6.1 innings. Renkert threw 112 pitches and allowed four runs on four hits along with three walks and three strikeouts. After the T-Bones scored four in the top of the inning, the RedHawks replied with four of their own to make the score 10-4 in favor of the RedHawks heading into the eighth.

The RedHawks stay at home as the Gary SouthShore RailCats come to visit on Friday for a three-game series. The first pitch is set for 5 p.m. tomorrow and pitching for the RedHawks will be lefty Broc Coffman (3-3, 3.12) while LH Drew Dickinson (3-2, 5.30) will counter for the RailCats.
