Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks News Release

A four-error fourth inning hindered the RedHawks as they lost to the Winnipeg Goldeyes 10-2 in front of 4,903 fans, the eighth sellout at Newman Outdoor Field this season. The RedHawks are now 46-27 on the season and the Goldeyes moved to just above .500 with a 36-35 record.

After singling in the first, lead off man, Fehlandt Lentini scored off a wild pitch by Todd George giving the Goldeyes a 1-0 lead early in the game. The RedHawks went without a hit until the third inning when Joe Mathis crushed a solo shot over the right field wall, making it 1-1.

The RedHawks committed four costly errors in the fourth inning that led to five hits and seven runs for the Goldeyes, giving them an 8-1 lead over the home team. They extended the lead in the sixth when Lentini knocked a two-run homer over the left field wall. The RedHawks wouldn't score another run until the eighth inning when Ruben Salazar hit an RBI double to deep right field, scoring Mathis.

Game two of the three-game series will be in Fargo on Wednesday at 7 p.m. Garry Bakker (6-2, 2.83) will get the nod for the RedHawks while the Goldeyes will counter with Bear Bay (4-7, 6.19).
