
RedHawks Re-Sign Frawley, Add Kasparek

FARGO, N.D. - The Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks have re-signed RHP Jack Frawley and signed RHP Kenn Kasparek to contracts, the club announced Monday.
Frawley, 26, returns to the RedHawks after making six starts for Fargo-Moorhead in 2011. Last season, he was 1-3 with a 7.55 ERA after being claimed off waivers from the Gary Southshore RailCats in early August. In 31.0 innings pitched with the RedHawks, Frawley allowed 40 hits while striking out 20 batters. With Gary, he was 3-5 with a 6.05 ERA in 16 games (15 starts).
Frawley pitched this winter for the Perth Heat in the Australian Baseball League and for Victoria Park in the West Australian State League. He made three regular season appearances for Perth and was 1-0 with a 1.46 ERA in three games (one start). Frawley saved his best for last with the Heat as he picked up the win in the final game of the playoffs to clinch the ABL title for Perth. With Victoria Park, he was 3-3 with a 3.13 ERA in seven starts.
Frawley began his professional career in 2009 after signing with the Houston Astros organization as a non-drafted free agent out of the University of North Florida. He spent two seasons in the Astros chain before signing with Gary prior to the 2011 season.
Kasparek, 26, joins the RedHawks after spending the past four seasons in the Seattle Mariners organization. In 2011, he was 5-5 with a 4.50 ERA in 12 starts for the Jackson Generals of the Southern League (AA). Kasparek allowed 39 runs (31 earned) on 69 hits in 62.0 innings pitched. He struck out 40 batters, walked 26 and was selected to pitch in the Southern League All-Star Game. He also pitched two games for the High Desert Mavericks of the California League (A) and three games for the Mariners club in the Arizona League (R) in 2011.
Kasparek was selected by the Mariners in the 12th round of the 2008 draft out of the University of Texas. In his four-year professional career, Kasparek is 29-21 with a 3.60 ERA in 82 games (78 starts). His best season came in 2009, when he was 10-6 with a 2.41 ERA in 26 games with the Clinton Lumberkings of the Midwest League (A). He was named the Mariners Organization Player of the Year by MLB.com that season.
REDHAWKS NOTES.
* The Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks have released RHP Josh Roberts. Roberts has decided to retire from professional baseball. He was acquired from the Lake Erie Crushers of the Frontier League this winter.
