Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks News Release

Four Goldeye errors and a three-run double by Kole Zimmerman helped the RedHawks to a 12-4 victory over the Winnipeg Goldeyes in front of 3,327 fans. The RedHawks are now 35-23 on the year as Winnipeg dropped to 30-28.

Scoreless after the first three innings, the first hit of the game for the Goldeyes was a solo shot over the right field wall by Fehlandt Lentini in the fourth. Carlo Cota and Jimmy Hurst stole second and third base respectively in the bottom half of the inning and in an attempt to catch Cota at third, Jason Sherrer committed an error on the throw, which sent Cota home.

Zach Penprase knocked a two-run homer, the first of his professional career, over the right field wall in the fifth to put the RedHawks up 3-1. The Goldeyes' Lentini advanced to third in the sixth on a fielding error by second baseman, Cota, and scored on an infield single by Tydus Meadows to bring his team within one.

Two costly errors charged to the Goldeyes gave the RedHawks two runs in the sixth and a 5-2 lead. Bear Bay allowed five runs on five hits in his five innings of work before being relieved by Dustin Pease. The Goldeyes would have two more pitching changes before the completion of the game.

Colin Roberson gave his team a boost in the seventh with a homerun over the right field wall. The RedHawks had an answer, scoring two runs in the seventh. A Zimmerman double out to the left-center warning track with the bases loaded launched the RedHawks ahead 12-3. With the Goldeyes only able to muster one run in the ninth, the RedHawks won 12-4.

The RedHawks leave tomorrow to start a three-game series with the Gary SouthShore RailCats starting on Tuesday at 7 p.m. Scheduled to start for the RedHawks is RH Brett Lawson with LH Jeremy Plexico taking the mound for the RailCats.
