RedHawks' Comeback Bid Falls Short in Game Two of AA Finals

FARGO, N.D. - After giving up the first seven runs of the ballgame in Game 2 of the American Association Finals on Saturday night, the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks could only manage five runs of their own in a 7-5 loss to the Kansas City Monarchs in front of 1,134 fans at Newman Outdoor Field. The Monarchs are within one run of the American Association title after taking the first two games of the best-of-five Finals.
Kansas City's Calos Diaz picked up the win (0.00 ERA, 1.2 IP, 1 H, 1 BB, 4 SO,0 ER) and the loss went to RedHawks pitcher Bret Helton (13.09 ERA, 3.0 IP, 9 H, 7 ER). John Silviano and Sam Dexter each hit a home run as the bottom of the RedHawks batting order accounted for 10 of the 12 team's hits tonight. The Monarchs offensive put up six runs in the first inning and had no home runs as the RedHawks relievers kept Kansas City scoreless after the second inning.
Fargo-Moorhead and Kansas City will continue the American Association Finals in Kansas City on Monday, Sept. 20. First pitch for Game 3 is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Legends Field in Kansas City, KS.
