Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks News Release
The Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks baseball team announces the hiring of Matt Rau as general manager.
"After a nationwide search, with quite a few outstanding candidates, our organization is extremely pleased that we could come to an agreement with Matt," said RedHawks President & CEO, Brad Thom. "Matt brings a wealth of knowledge from the various positions he has held in the sports industry and will help the RedHawks grow even more. Matt has some pretty big shoes to fill, and I am confident he will do a fantastic job."
Rau is a Fargo, ND native who attended North Dakota State University and played for the Bison baseball team. He finished his degree at Ashford University in Iowa. His career in sports started with the RedHawks, working on the grounds crew while attending NDSU.
"I am extremely happy to be back in Fargo and for this opportunity with the RedHawks," said Rau. "Growing up in Fargo, the RedHawks have been a staple in this community for as long as I can remember. My career has come full circle and I look forward to continuing the RedHawks tradition in my new role."
Rau replaces Josh Buchholz as team general manager, who is leaving the RedHawks organization for the American Association of Independent Professional Baseball, where he was named executive director of the league on January 18, 2018. Buchholz was with the RedHawks for 22 seasons and was general manager since 2005.
The F-M RedHawks are preparing for their 23rd season in independent baseball and have won five league championships since 1996.
