Redfish Fall In Roadtrip Finale
June 5, 2007 - South Coast League (SCL)
Charlotte County Redfish News Release
PORT CHARLOTTE, FL- The Redfish headed into Luther Williams Field looking to take home another victory on the road against the Macon Music. The first two games of the series were mirror images of each other. On this fifth night of June, the long ball by the Music would prove to be too much for the Redfish as they fell 8-3.
The game featured two starters making their South Coast League. Brandon Camardese (0-1) made the start for the Redfish and Nick Utley (1-0) took the hill for the Music in his first professional start. The game had a very similar start to the first game of the series. The Redfish got on the scoreboard first as PJ Lehmann, the Redfish shortstop for the evening, was walked home after Redfish first baseman, Jeremy McCann, was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded. The Music got their first run in similar fashion. With the bases loaded, Camardese walked in Dorian Rojas and the game was tied at one. Ismael Castro, the Music third baseman, skied a sacrifice fly to right and Scott Robinson came in to score from third and the Music lead it 2-1.
After a scoreless second inning, the Redfish tied the game as Lehmann came around to score after Anthony Sandstrom reached on error to the first baseman. The Music would answer in the bottom half as Ismael Castro crushed a solo homerun to leftfield and the Music went back up on the Redfish. The Music would add runs in the fifth, sixth and seventh it and the Redfish added a run of their own in the sixth and the score after seven complete was 6-3 Music.
The Music, though, would push the outcome of the game in their favor as with two out and runner on third, Mike DeVeaux pushed a Yanier Manso pitch just over the left centerfield wall for a two-run homerun and that was all the Music would need as they snatched the rubber game from the Redfish.
The Redfish return to Charlotte Sports Park on Thursday, June 7th, to take on the Anderson Joes for three games and begin a six game homestand. First pitch is set for 7:05 PM. All Redfish games can be heard on 1070 AM WKII and online at www.redfishbaseball.com. For more information, check out www.redfishbaseball.com. Charlotte County Redfish Baseball - Reel in the Fun!
