Redfish Book Drive This Thursday, June 7

PORT CHARLOTTE, FL- The Charlotte County Redfish Baseball Team will have a children's book drive for the Ronald McDonald House on Thursday, June 7. The game begins at 7 pm, and anyone who brings a new or used children's book in good condition to the game will receive $1 off regular priced admission.

Along with being the first Thirsty Thursday of the year for the Redfish, Thursday night is also CCYP Night at the stadium.

"Charlotte County Young Professionals are always looking for ways to give back to the community, and we are honored to be a part of this book drive," said Stacy Calvino, CCYP Social Director.

The Ronald McDonald House provides a "home away from home" for families of seriously ill children receiving treatment at nearby hospitals. It serves as a temporary residence near the medical facility where family members can sleep, eat, relax, and find support from other families in similar situations.

The organization regularly collects books and toys for the kids in the library and playroom. All of the books collected at the Redfish game will go to the Ronald McDonald House of Ft. Myers, the closest location to Port Charlotte.

"The Redfish always advocate reading," said General Manager Steven Tricarico. "We've had several of our players read to classes in the area, and we sponsored the Summer Reading Kickoff at the Mid-County Regional Library. Having a book drive to support a great charity like the Ronald McDonald House just makes sense."

Other upcoming events at Redfish Baseball games include Law Enforcement Night on June 12 with discounted prices for Law Officers, Singles Night on June 9 with a Singles Mixer in the Bud Club Level, and Little League Night on June 10 with free admission for any child wearing a little league jersey.
