Redcoats Reign In Rain, 7-3

ROCKFORD, Ill. - The Ohio Valley Redcoats rallied for two runs in the top of the sixth inning and waited out a rain delay to beat the Rockford RiverHawks, 7-3.

Kaliko Oligo singled home the go-ahead run and was 4-for-5 for the Redcoats, who never trailed, in front of 2,408 at Marinelli Field.

The RiverHawks took a 3-2 lead in the fifth inning on Doug Schutt's home run to right field and Brian Baron's RBI single, but quickly lost the advantage.

In the sixth, Bobby Mack gave up RBI singles to Dave Munoz and Oligo. Mack (1-2) gave up three runs on five hits in 1 2/3 innings.

The Ohio Valley bullpen pitched scoreless ball from the fifth inning on. Jon Grijalva went 2 1/3 innings to win his professional debut. Jason Elkins got the last six outs and picked up his fourth save.

The finale of the nine-game homestand is at 6:05 p.m. Sunday. It's LaSalle Bank Batting Gloves Night for youths 12 and under. It's also a Family Night, when families can get up to five tickets for just $10.

The RiverHawks are the defending champions of the Frontier League, a 12-team independent professional baseball league in its 13th season. All games are broadcasted live on WRHL-FM, 102.3 - the Hub.
