Ottawa RedBlacks News Release

OTTAWA - The CFL announced its 2021 All-Stars on Wednesday and the star-studded list features a pair of REDBLACKS; Punter Richie Leone is now a four-time All-Star, while returner DeVonte Dedmon earned the first honours of his career.

Leone, 29, was preciously named a CFL All-Star in 2015, 2016 with the BC Lions, and in 2019 with the REDBLACKS. The Roswell, Georgia native appeared in all 14 games during Ottawa's 2021 season, achieving 4,315 net yards, and serving as a key component of the REDBLACKS' standout special teams units.

Leone signed a one-year contract extension with the REDBLACKS on November 3, 2021.

Dedmon's first All-Star nod comes after a year in which he was voted the league's Most Outstanding Special Teams Player, in just his third season. The 26 year-old totalled 2,841 return yards across punts and kicks in 2021, along with three return touchdowns. With his third return major, against the Toronto Argonauts on November 6, Dedmon became the fastest player in CFL history to reach five career return touchdowns, in just 15 games. Offensively, he tallied 65 rushing yards, along with a touchdown, to go with 98 receiving yards.

A native of Williamsburg, Virginia, Dedmon re-signed with the REDBLACKS for the 2022 season, on November 2, 2021.
