Memphis Redbirds News Release
MEMPHIS, TN - Global Spectrum, the company hired by the Memphis Redbirds Baseball Foundation to manage the Memphis Redbirds of the Pacific Coast League (AAA) and operate the team's home field, AutoZone Park in Memphis, today named Derek Goldfarb as the team's new Assistant General Manager and Director of Sales and Adam Goldberg as the team's new Director of Marketing.
Goldfarb most recently was in the Advertising-Sales Department at Global Spectrum's flagship arena, the Wachovia Center, in Philadelphia, PA, where he sold advertising and sponsorship opportunities for the Philadelphia 76ers and the Philadelphia Flyers, both entities of Global Spectrum's parent company, Comcast-Spectacor. He also sold similar opportunities for advertisers and sponsors at the Wachovia Center.
In his new role, Goldfarb will oversee all of the advertising and premium seating sales opportunities at AutoZone Park and for the Redbirds. In addition, he will oversee the Group Sales Department and the Season Ticket Sales Office. He joined Global Spectrum's parent company, Comcast-Spectacor, in 2003, selling tickets in the 76ers sales office. He was promoted to the Corporate Sales Manager for Global Spectrum at the Wachovia Center in July, 2007. He is a 2003 graduate of the University of Delaware, obtaining a Bachelor Degree in Arts and Sciences.
"Derek is a dynamic salesman with a high-level of enthusiasm and creativity," said Global Spectrum Chief Operating Officer John Page. "We will rely heavily on Derek to create, implement and develop new and exciting campaigns for our fans and our sponsors in Memphis."
Goldberg spent the past three seasons as the Marketing Manager for the Philadelphia Phantoms of the American Hockey League where he created and implemented many exciting and fun promotions for the minor league affiliate of the Flyers. The Phantoms recently relocated to the Glens Falls Civic Center in Glens Falls, NY. He is a 2005 graduate of Arizona State University, where he received a Bachelor Degree in Marketing.
"Adam's experience in minor league hockey will be a tremendous advantage to us in Memphis," said Page. "He has the ability to generate creative and exciting opportunities for media partners, sponsors and the fans and we are excited for him to begin to implement some of his ideas for the Redbirds."
Global Spectrum, a division of the Philadelphia-based sports and entertainment firm, is the fastest growing firm in the public assembly management field. Among the more than 80 facilities the company manages more than 80 facilities, including Citizens Bank Park, home of the World Series Champion Philadelphia Phillies.
Global Spectrum named Ben Weiss as the new General Manager of the Redbirds on July 21, 2009. The company has a close connection to the Redbirds due to the fact that Ovations Food Services, the food and beverage provider at AutoZone Park, is also a subsidiary of Comcast-Spectacor.
