Team Red scored three goals in both the second and third periods en route to a 7-3 win over Team White on Sunday afternoon in the Spokane Chiefs annual Red-White Scrimmage. Mike Senseman scored twice in the third and added a second period assist for a game high three points. Six different players scored goals for Team Red in the official end to the Chiefs Fall Camp. A Red-White game record 1,611 fans attended the game.

Twenty-year-old Gustav Engman scored the only goal in the first period, at the 14:06 mark, with a snap shot from the slot. Kyle Anheliger and Lynden Proctor assisted on the goal.

In the second, 17-year-old Edmonton product Gavin Millan scored off a Senseman feed to make it 2-0 Red at 10:24. Johannes Salmonsson, the Chiefs first round selection this year in the CHL's Import Draft, scored at 13:08, from Chad Klassen and Jeff Lynch, for a 3-0 lead. Myles Stoesz scored the eventual game winner as he broke out of the penalty box to find the puck at his feet. Stoesz snapped it high as he flew down the right wing at 18:21.

Derek Lee, the Chiefs sixth round selection this past spring, put Team White on the board at 19:03 of the second. Evan Renwick, Spokane's fifth round pick this year, set up the goal.

In the third, the two teams combined for five goals, three of them coming in a two-and-a-half minute span beginning with Senseman's first goal at 1:42 to push the lead to 5-1. White's Drayson Bowman, Spokane's first round selection in the 2004 WHL Bantam Draft, took a pass at the blueline and spun towards the net while splitting a pair of defenseman and roofed it home at 2:57 to cut the deficit to 4-2. Evan Witt, out of Spokane's North Central High School finished the flurry at 3:15 for a 6-3 lead. Witt was Spokane's fourth round pick in the 2004 WHL Bantam Draft.

Senseman scored at 6:54 as Millan recorded his second point on the afternoon and Derek Buors, a 17-year-old from Winnipeg, picked up his first.

Mike Reich finished the scoring on a set-up from Seth Compton at 9:54 for a 7-3 final.

All six goaltenders played one period with Medicine Hat's Thomas Stehr starting for Team Red. Stehr was followed up by Rhys Chesney, from Abbotsford, and Jim Watt, a four-year veteran in Spokane.

Matt Weninger started for Team White while Darcy Keumper played the second and Kevin Opsahl the third.

The Chiefs will participate in their first full practice on Tuesday, August 30th in the Spokane Arena at 10:00 am and follow it up with practices on Wednesday and Thursday. Spokane will travel to Everett on Friday for their first of six exhibition games. The Chiefs will take on the Kamloops Blazers at 3:00 in their first of three games in as many nights in the Silvertips pre-season tournament.

The Chiefs will open the 2005-06 season on the road on September 24th when they travel to play the Kootenay Ice. Spokane will open the home portion of their season on Saturday, October 1st when they take on the Tri-City Americans.
