Chicago Stars FC News Release
BRIDGEVIEW, Ill. - The Chicago Red Stars get their first look at WPS leader Los Angeles, featuring three-time FIFA World Player of the Year Marta, Wednesday night when the two clubs meet for a 9:30 pm (CT) match at The Home Depot Center in Carson, Calif.
The Red Stars (2-3-2, 8 pts.) enter the match on a three-game losing streak and a 308 minute scoring drought. Chicago will be bolstered by the return of U.S. Women's National Team members Marian Dalmy, Megan Rapinoe and Lindsay Tarpley after all missed the Red Stars' last match, a 2-0 loss to Saint Louis.
Chicago midfielder Carli Lloyd will sit out Wednesday's match after suffering a deep laceration to her left knee while practicing with the national team May 23rd. The injury was not serious and Lloyd is expected to rejoin the Red Stars in a week.
Los Angeles (6-1-2, 20 pts.) has won three straight matches and sits atop the WPS standings, eight points in front of second-place Washington. Sol goalkeeper Karina LeBlanc has posted the best numbers in the league to date, allowing just two goals on the season.
Wednesday's match will be available to view via webcast on www.chicagoredstars.com. The webcast is being produced by Los Angeles and is the fourth time this season Red Stars fans can watch their team play online.
