
Match on Wednesday to be Webcast

CARSON, CA - Monday, June 1, 2009 - The Los Angeles Sol (Women's Professional Soccer) led by three-time FIFA World Player of the Year Marta and National team members Shannon Boxx and Stephanie Cox today announced that the club's next home game, this Wednesday, June 3 against the Chicago Red Stars will be webcast on the team's official home page - www.LosAngelesSol.com. This will be the team's first-ever live webcast of a game.
Calling all of the action and providing insights will be Los Angeles Sol Director of Media Relations Nick Ammazzalorso with color commentary provided by Aaron Heifetz, Press Officer for the United States Women's National Team. They will be joined in the booth by other special guests during the webcast.
"We are pleased to offer the webcast to our dedicated fans who will not be able to join us in person on Wednesday night," said Los Angeles Sol General Manager Charlie Naimo. This will be a great way to follow our team from the home or office in what promises to be a very exciting match."
The Los Angeles Sol enters the game with a WPS-best 6-1-2 record (20 points) and has been atop the league standings since its Inaugural Match victory against the Washington Freedom on March 29. Last Saturday, the Sol defeated the Saint Louis Athletica 2-0, on the strength of goals from Camille Abily and Shannon Boxx.
The Red Stars come in with a record of 2-3-2 (8 points) and in a three-way tie in the WPS standings with Sky Blue FC and the Athletica. They had a bye from WPS play last weekend.
With the game between the Sol and the Red Stars slated to kick off at 7:30, the webcast will begin at 7:25 with a brief pre-game show from The Home Depot Center located on the campus of California State University - Dominguez Hills before the action unfolds.
