Red Star Athletic: Go Beyond the Brand
March 2, 2020 - United Soccer League Championship (USL)
Hartford Athletic News Release
You've seen the hats, you've seen the shirts, you've even seen vests. It looks like Hartford Athletic - but different. Not like the merchandise you're used to. For all the people that are dressed in Blue and Green on matchday, you see others wearing black and grey with a bright Red Star. This is Red Star Athletic, Hartford Athletic merchandise - but not the way you know it.
Red Star Athletic comes from the minds behind the Hartford Athletic crest. "One thing you always hear from Hartford Athletic fans, 'What does the Red Star in the logo mean?'. It's become a bit of an urban legend and it became this thing that we could rally around as we decided we wanted to create this special brand of merchandise," the Red Star creators said.
The merchandise from Red Star is designed to be different. One of the most popular items available is a grey t-shirt with an off-color Hartford Athletic logo, with the exception of the red star. "We've been all over the world and that informs our creative process. We want the Red Star Athletic brand to be different and disruptive. If it's straight down the middle, it's not what we're doing. We like it fresh and youthful."
The Red Star line currently includes a hat featuring an offset gasket with the Hartford Athletic logo, a Winter hat, a Trucker hat with the inscription 'Verde Azul', the previously mentioned t-shirt and a black vest with a red star. The future of the Red Star brand is even more exciting. "We're just getting started with Red Star. We have ideas unlike anything we've done thus far, fun and funky yet true to HA and Red Star. We love the Green and Blue but mixing it up with different colors and styles is what we do. Our fans will soon have the opportunity to stand separate from the pack with great Red Star Merchandise."
