CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. - Today, the Cincinnati Reds announced that SS Chris Valaika has been promoted to Chattanooga. Also, RHP Justin James, who has been on Chattanooga's disabled list since April 14th, has been activated. In a conjunctive move, SS Jose Castro and LHP Lee Tabor have been reassigned to Sarasota.

Valaika, a former member of the U.S. National Team, has had a hot start to his 2008 season. In Sarasota, the former third-round selection hit .363 with seven homers and 31 RBIs in 32 games. On Monday, he was named Florida State League Player of the Week for his stellar play during the prior week.

James, who was placed on the disabled list with elbow tendonitis, pitched in four games for the Lookouts this season. During that span, he pitched 5.1 innings, struck out five, and yielded seven runs (six earned) to give him a 10.13 ERA.

Tabor returns to Sarasota, where he began his season, after pitching four games for the Lookouts. During his short tenure with Chattanooga, the lefty reliever threw 4.1 shutout innings, amassing five strikeouts, while yielding just one hit and three walks.

Castro hit .239 with four doubles, a triple, and seven RBIs for the Lookouts over 23 games.

The Lookouts will continue their five-game homestand against the Smokies, today at 11:15 AM. Tickets can be purchased at the Lookouts' box office, online at www.lookouts.com, or by calling the ticket office at (423) 267-4849.
