York Revolution News Release
(Waldorf, Md.): The red hot York Revolution saw their season-best four-game winning streak halted with a 2-0 loss to the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs on Tuesday night at Regency Furniture Stadium in the opening game of a six-game road trip.
Revs starter Nick Travieso (2-4) worked a strong six innings, but was victimized by one pitch as Joe DeLuca connected on a solo homer to right in the bottom of the fifth to give the Blue Crabs a 1-0 lead. It was one of only two hits allowed by Travieso all night.
Josh Martin tossed a perfect seventh before the Blue Crabs plated an insurance run in the eighth against Duke von Schamann when David Harris grounded an RBI single into left.
Offensively, it was a struggle for the Revs who were limited to just three hits and could not take advantage of seven walks, six of which came from Blue Crabs starter McKenzie Mills (8-1) who used 105 pitches to get through six innings.
York stranded two runners in three consecutive innings from the third through the fifth, and could not come up with a hit against the Blue Crabs bullpen as Patrick Baker, Nick Wells, and Mat Latos (league-leading 17th save) combined on the shutout.
The Revs entered the night just eight total runs behind the first half division champion Blue Crabs for the league lead in runs scored, but were shut out for just the second time all season with the other time occurring in the season's second game on April 23 at Long Island.
York tied a season-high with three stolen bases but stranded eight runners, five in scoring position.
Carlos Franco walked and singled, extending his on-base streak to 40 consecutive games, five shy of Nate Espy's franchise record set in 2007.
It was only the fourth meeting of the season between the Revs and Blue Crabs, who will still face off 14 more times and eight more times at Regency Furniture Stadium.
York lefty Austin Nicely (2-5) faces Southern Maryland right-hander Daryl Thompson (6-2) on Wednesday at 6:35 p.m. Revs fans can catch the action live on SportsRadio 98.9 FM & 1350 WOYK, 989woyk.com, The New WOYK app, and the WOYK YouTube channel beginning at 6:15 p.m. with Darrell Henry on the call.
