Madison Mallards News Release
Madison, Wis. - After Hunter Hisky's (Southwest Baptist) walk-off heroics last night, the Mallards (10-3) head to Kenosha (5-7) looking for their ninth straight win and fourth consecutive series sweep. With a win tonight, the Mallards would have their first nine game winning streak since the summer of 2010.
The Mallards have been dominating in all phases during their hot streak as they currently lead the South Division with a .280 team batting average. The club also holds the Northwoods League's lowest team ERA (2.41), the highest slugging percentage (.383) and the South Division's highest home run total (8).
Probable Pitchers
Marrieta righty Dalton Wiggins heads to the mound tonight holding a 0.00 ERA over 13.0 innings through his first two starts. Wiggins had an incredible start his last time out, hurling eight innings of two-hit ball in a Mallards win in Kalamazoo. Wiggins has held opposing batters to a .156 average and has issued only three walks and allowed just seven hits thus far.
Set to oppose Wiggins is Kenosha righty Cale Cuddie. The junior from UW-Stevens Point has made two starts this season and holds a 4.50 ERA. Cuddie has showed some wildness on the bump, issuing ten walks through 8.0 innings of work.
Players to Watch
Mallards third baseman Tyler Plantier (Richmond) extended his season-long hitting streak last night and now is batting .412, the highest batting average in the South Division. Plantier has ripped four double and knocked in ten runs this summer while also pacing the league with three home runs.
Mallards catcher Hunter Hisky (Southwest Baptist) has seen his bat heat up lately, punctuated by his walk-off home run last night. Hisky has hit in four straight games and has moved his average up to .286.
