March 31, 2004 - National Indoor Football League (NIFL)
Black Hills Red Dogs News Release

Recently, Terrance Bryant and several Black Hills Red Dogs players had the opportunity to spend time with some of the local youth at the Children's Science Center in Rapid City. Players from this year’s team were on hand to sign autographs and meet the children of the community.

Cory Roberson, who is in his first year with the Red Dogs, said that he loved the opportunity to get out in the community and have the chance to interact with the kids. Roberson added, "It is good for the kids in the community and I even learned from the kids. There are all kinds of things that you don't think of when you get older." Roberson doesn't play football for the money but for the joy he gets seeing the children smile, whether it is doing things in the community or signing autographs after the game.

"It was fun to teach kids about science," said Virgil Johnson. "The children are very attentive, and I had fun teaching them how science relates to everyday life, and just how important it really is."

James Jones also enjoyed attending and signing autographs for the kids. He said it was a great opportunity for the children to meet the new Red Dogs players. He loves children, and would love to do more things in the community. "As a kindergarten teacher I have an opportunity to work with the children a lot. Having a pro football career gives me the chance to meet even more kids, and I get to be a big kid too."

"Kids look up to pro athletes," added Antwan Harris, "so we get to be positive role models. It's a very cool thing when a child strives to do better because they have met an athlete and it has an impact in their lives." Antwan also stated his love for children, and the need to befriend children. "The more positive role models a child has the better the chances of staying clear of trouble early in life."

Amos Wilson also loves working with children and said, "The best part about working with them is that kids of all ages have the ability to learn something new. A good education helps them achieve their goals, and if I can help them I am always ready and willing to do so."

All Red Dogs home games are played at the Rushmore Plaza Civic Center. Come see the Black Hills Red Dogs take on the Billings Outlaws Saturday, April 10th, doors open at 6:00 P.M.
