Maine Celtics News Release

PORTLAND, ME - The Maine Red Claws, presented by Quirk Chevrolet, today announced that they have waived Michael Williams. The announcement was made by Red Claws President and General Manager Jon Jennings. Williams, a 6-11, 245 lb. center out of Bryant College, appeared in eight games for the Red Claws.

"Mike worked incredibly hard from the moment he made the team out of open tryouts in Boston this fall," said Jennings. "He has seen limited action in recent weeks, and we wanted to give him opportunities elsewhere."

With the assignment of Lester Hudson earlier this week and the waiving on Williams, the Red Claws roster now stands at 11 players, including two NBA contracted players.

The Red Claws will next be in action this Thursday as they host the Iowa Energy in a New Year's Eve contest featuring the first meeting of the season between the league's top two teams. Tip off for the holiday game will be at 1 PM. The Red Claws will then take on the visiting Erie Bayhawks on Friday at 5 PM. The two East Conference rivals have met three times this season, with the Red Claws holding a three games to none edge. Limit tickets remain for the two games.
