New York Red Bulls News Release
HARRISON, NJ (October 3, 2014) - The New York Red Bulls open the final month of the regular season when they host the Houston Dynamo tomorrow in the first of a three-game homestand at Red Bull Arena. Kickoff for Saturday's match is set for 6:00 PM ET with NBC Sports Network televising the game nationally.
New York enters Saturday's match in the fifth and final playoff position in the Eastern Conference. Despite falling at LA in the team's last regular-season action, the Red Bulls are 3-1-1 in their last five matches and are 6-0-2 at Red Bull Arena in their last eight home games.
MLS Golden Boot leader Bradley Wright-Phillips has scored six goals in four regular-season matches against Houston, including a hat-trick at Red Bull Arena on April 23 in a 4-0 win. Wright-Phillips is just three goals shy of the MLS single season scoring record of 27 heading into Saturday's clash.
Houston comes to Red Bull Arena following a 2-0 win over the Chicago Fire on September 28 and are currently alone in eighth place in the Eastern Conference. The Dynamo are 0-5-1 in six visits to Red Bull Arena.
Saturday marks the third and final regular-season meeting between the two clubs this year. The Red Bulls have posted a 1-0-1 record through two games, including a 2-2 draw on July 4 at BBVA Compass Stadium in the most recent meeting.
