Colorado Rapids players Deshorn Brown, Marlon Hairston and Dillon Serna will each miss the road trip to California on October 11, for the fixture with Chivas USA, due to international duty. A sophormore forward who leads the Rapids' scoring charts again this season, Brown will depart Denver on Tuesday to join Jamaica in Niigata City for an international friendly against Japan on Friday, October 10 at Denka Big Swan stadium. Brown has made eight appearances with the Reggae Boyz, his first coming on the same date (October 10) a year ago when he played the full 90 in the World Cup Qualifier against the United States. He has scored two goals for Jamaica, the first on March 2 against Barbados and the next on March 5 against St. Lucia, both shutout victories for the Jamaicans. "It's a great feeling (to be asked to play for your national side), and this trip to Japan will be a great experience," Brown said. "It's an opportunity for me to go there and prove to everybody that I can play 'world' soccer." Hairston and Serna will join the U.S. Under-23's squad for Brasilia Camp and an October 13 match against the Brazil U-23 team. This will form part of the USA's preparations for the start of their 2016 Summer Olympics qualifiying campaign. The pair will depart for Brasilia on Thursday, October 9 and train the following three days before kicking off at 8 p.m. MT at the Estádio Nacional in Brasilia - one of the venues for the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio - on the 13th. "Any time you get those call-ups to go represent the country, it's a great experience," Hairston commented. "To be in Brazil, and for us to be able to play against Brazil, it's a great opportunity for us going forward. "To play against quality players, like Brazil have, can only help us develop as individual players but also come together as a team. We didn't qualify for the last Olympics, so I'm sure all the guys will come with a killer instinct and a killer mindset to continue to grow as a team, and hopefully we can put ourselves in a good position come 2016." Both Serna and Hairson were called up to a training camp in August in the Bahamas, but Serna did not make the trip in order to participate in the Chipotle MLS Homegrown Game during All-Star week, and Hairston withdrew due to a groin strain suffered in the week leading up to the trip. "It's a great opportunity any time you can represent your national team," Serna told ColoradoRapids.com. "To be called into the U-23s into Brazil for a game is huge, and I think the Olympics is the next step for me and hopefully I can make the final Olympic team down in Brazil. That's my next goal."
