Davenport, Fla. - The New York Red Bulls dropped their first match of the preseason with a 3-2 defeat to Orlando City SC Wednesday at the Omni Resort at ChampionsGate.

New York controlled play in the first half as both teams featured first-team lineups. Kaka opened the scoring for the Lions as he headed home a Luke Boden corner kick in the 23rd minute.

The Red Bulls answered quickly as Bradley Wright-Phillips found the back of the net just two minutes later to level the score at one. Kemar Lawrence delivered a perfect cross on the BWP goal.

Just before halftime those two were again in the middle of the scoring for New York. Lawrence collected a Wright-Phillips rebound to give New York a 2-1 lead in the 36th minute.

Orlando City evened the game at two in the 62nd minute as Adrian Winter collected a loose ball in front. Orlando City would earn the win after Pedro Ribeiro scored in the 85th minute to secure the 3-2 victory.

The Red Bulls continue preseason play with a pair of split-squad scrimmages Saturday at the Omni Resort. New York faces UCF at 10:30 a.m. and Toronto FC at 12:30 p.m.
