Houston Dynamo Unveil New Alternate Kit with Graffiti Mural

HOUSTON (Wednesday, Feb. 17, 2016) - The Houston Dynamo unveiled their new alternate kit Wednesday in a new way - via a graffiti mural in the EaDo neighborhood the club calls home.
The new alternate kit, which will be debuted at the Dynamo's home opener on March 6 vs. the New England Revolution, will be predominantly black with an inverted orange chevron over the chest. It marks the first black jersey in club history.

The Dynamo partnered with renowned Houston street artist GONZO247 on the project, which he began Wednesday morning at approximately 4 a.m. CST and completed at 5 p.m. Using the hashtag #PaintItBlack, the club encouraged fans, active social media personalities and the local community to share their own views of the mural throughout the day.
A "Paint It Black 4-Pack" ticket package, starting at $98, is available at HoustonDynamo.com/PaintItBlack and includes four tickets to the Home Opener along with four copies of a commemorative poster featuring the street mural design created by GONZO247.
Dynamo season ticket members received a special presale opportunity to purchase the jersey beginning today. The new jersey will be available for purchase beginning Monday, Feb. 22 at the adidas Team Store at BBVA Compass Stadium, select Academy Sports + Outdoors locations in the Houston area, and online at Academy.com/Dynamo or MLSstore.com.
Notable elements of the new kit include:
- The club motto, "FOREVER ORANGE," sewn on the inside of the jersey beneath the collar on the back
- The three shades of orange that form a "V" shape pay homage to the club's "Forever Orange" motto, representing the Dynamo's past, present and future
- "DYNAMO" sewn on the outside of the collar at the back of the neck
- Orange names and numbers on the back
- Two silver stars above the Houston Dynamo crest representing the club's back-to-back MLS Cup wins in 2006 and 2007
- Space City Blue trim on neck and sleeves, maintaining a connection to the club's traditional secondary color
- Jersey sponsor BHP Billiton is prominently features on the front of the jersey
- adidas 3 Stripes on the right sleeve of jersey
- The flag of the State of Texas is stitched onto the jersey just above the hemline on the front left portion of the jersey
