
Red Bulls Battle Sounders in Match-Up Between Top MLS Teams

HARRISON, NJ (September 28, 2013) - Looking to potentially clinch their 10th postseason berth in 11 seasons, the New York Red Bulls face Seattle Sounders FC in a battle between the two top teams in each conference Sunday evening at 9:00 PM ET (TV: ESPN, ESPN Deportes; Radio ESPN Deportes Radio Nueva York 1050 AM).

The Red Bulls extended their winning streak to four following a 1-0 win over FC Dallas last Sunday at Red Bull Arena. New York (15-9-6, 51 pts.) entered this weekend with a three-point lead atop the Eastern Conference ahead of Sporting Kansas City is are the top team in the MLS Supporters' Shield standings (the award given to the MLS team with the most regular season points).
New York can qualify for the MLS Cup Playoffs with a win over Seattle combined with:
- A New England Revolution tie/loss in their Saturday match against Houston
AND
- A Chicago Fire tie/loss in their Saturday match against Montreal
New York faces the team that enters the weekend one point behind it in the Supporters' Shield race "" Seattle Sounders FC. Entering the weekend holding a two point lead over Real Salt Lake in the Western Conference, Seattle (15-8-5, 50 pts.) has been one of the hottest teams in MLS over the second half of the season, winning five of its last six. The Sounders earned a point following a 1-1 tie against the LA Galaxy last Saturday at the StubHub Center.
