Red Bull Arena Construction Update

HARRISON, NJ (August 26, 2008) - Red Bull New York begins today providing regular updates on the progress of Red Bull Arena -- Built by Makita. Last Tuesday, August 19, the vertical construction began with the first steel column being connected to the foundation. The state-of-the-art soccer-specific stadium is being built in Harrison, New Jersey. Photos of the construction progress are attached for use. Please credit RBNY.

In the first week of above ground construction of Red Bull Arena, 872 pieces of steel (a total of 206 tons) have been set in place. The progress to date includes completion of the erection of structural steel and steel decking through Level 4 of the north half of the West building. This coming week, the steel columns and framing for Levels 5 and 6 are being set. Level 6 is the roof of the west building. The West Building is the main structure and will house the team locker rooms (Level 1), press and mechanical spaces (Level 2), Stadium Club and main concourse (Level 3) and the first level of the Luxury Suites and Suite Club (Level 4). Level 5 is the second level of Suites and the Broadcast Booths. In the next month, structural steel erection will begin for the main seating bowl.

Over the next seven months, the structural steel will be erected to support the new dynamic form roof - a curving structure that will wrap Red Bull Arena in an elegant shell. The unique stadium roof design, which will create a distinguished identity and unique atmosphere for Red Bulls fans, will extend from its leading edge over the entire seating bowl and then curve down to the concourse, creating the dominate architectural statement of power and elegance. The roof will extend 120 feet from the last seat to halfway between the field wall and the field's touchlines, with 60 feet of the roof being translucent, letting in natural light.
