August 4, 2003 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Grand Rapids Griffins News Release
Grand Rapids, Mich. - The Grand Rapids Griffins on Monday announced that Jeep Chrysler has signed an agreement to become the presenting sponsor for the third annual Red & White Game, a Detroit Red Wings intrasquad contest hosted by the Griffins organization.
This year's game, now officially known as the 2003 Red & White Game, presented by Jeep Chrysler, will take place on Thursday, Sept. 18 at 7:30 p.m. at Van Andel Arena. The event, which made its debut in 2000 and returned in 2002, features Detroit's top 35-45 players competing against each other in a regulation 60-minute game.
Jeep Chrysler, a long-time partner of the Griffins, the Red Wings and the Red & White Game, becomes the event's first-ever presenting sponsor. In exchange for an undisclosed fee, Jeep Chrysler will receive a comprehensive sponsorship package that includes:
* Integration of Chrysler and Jeep logos into the design for the 2003 Red & White Game logo
* Recognition in all advertising and promotion for the event
* Vehicle displays in Van Andel Arena lobby and on-ice during intermissions
* Dasher board signage, in-ice logos and welcome signage visible outside arena
* Advertisements and promotions during TV and radio broadcasts of the event
* In-game promotions
* Ad in the event program.
"Jeep Chrysler's sponsorship of the Red & White Game is a natural extension of the great relationship that they enjoy with both the Griffins and the Red Wings," said Bob Sack, senior vice president of sales and marketing for the Griffins. "Their continuing commitment has helped make this event a true highlight on the West Michigan sports calendar."
Last year's game saw Team Red defeat Team White by a 3-2 count in a shootout, as NHL superstars such as Nicklas Lidstrom, Brett Hull and Chris Chelios skated alongside a number of Griffins favorites, including Michel Picard, Travis Richards and Marc Lamothe.
Tickets for the 2003 Red & White Game are included in all of the Griffins' full season and mini-plan ticket packages for the 2003-04 AHL season. Fans may call (800) 2-HOCKEY for more information.
Television and radio broadcast agreements for the game, which is again expected to be a sellout (10,834), will be announced in the coming weeks.
