Regina, Saskatchewan - The Regina Pats closed the 2016-17 season with a 6-0 win in Brandon over the Wheat Kings on Saturday night. The Pats got a 34 save shutout from Jordan Hollett while Adam Brooks led the offence with a goal and two assists. The Pats led 1-0 after 1, 4-0 after two and 6-0 at the end of the contest. Regina finishes the year on an eight game winning streak and a 52-12-7-1 record. Regina outshot the Wheat Kings 44-34 in the win, the powerplay was oh for one and the penalty kill seven for seven. The Pats kick off the 2017 playoffs on Friday at home to the Calgary Hitmen on Friday night. Puck drop is at 7 p.m. at the Brandt Centre.

Scoring Summary First Period Regina - Jonathan Smart (3) from Dawson Davidson and Sergey Zborovskiy - 9:20.

Second Period Regina - Austin Wagner (30) from Adam Brooks - 10:52. Regina - Connor Hobbs (31) from Chase Harrison and Bryan Lockner - 14:14. Regina - Dawson Leedahl (35) from Sergey Zborovskiy - 19:51.

Powerplays Regina 0/1 Brandon 0/7 Quick Hits - Connor Hobbs set a new record for goals by a defenceman in a season with his 31st in the second period. - Sam Steel (131 points) finishes a point ahead of teammate Adam Brooks (130) for the WHlL scoring title. - The Pats finished the season with six players with at least 30 goals.
