Real Salt Lake to Host National Anthem Auditions February 4 & 5

SANDY, Utah (Tuesday, January 25, 2011) - Real Salt Lake is enlisting the help of its talented fan base for a second straight year, today announcing the club will host auditions for "The Star-Spangled Banner" and "O Canada" performers for its 2011 home contests. The tryouts are set to take place next weekend in Rio Tinto Stadium's Budweiser Club Real restaurant (2nd floor) on Friday, February 4, from 4:00-7:00 p.m. MT and Saturday, February 5, from 2:00-5:00 p.m.

The National Anthem tryouts are open to all area singers and musicians, allowing fans of the Claret-and-Cobalt the unique chance to be an integral part of the best gameday experience in all of Major League Soccer. Real Salt Lake is looking to fill performance spots for all 17 of its MLS regular season contests plus potential Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup contests and international exhibitions to be hosted at Rio Tinto Stadium, where RSL will look to continue its MLS-record 25-match regular season home undefeated streak - a run that stretches to 33 games across all competitions, dating back to May of 2009.

Participants will be judged on a cappella and acoustic instrumental renditions only, as no electric or amplified instruments can be utilized for gameday performances. In addition, any tryout participants under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian during the audition. During the two-day auditions, members of the Real Salt Lake Gameday Operations staff will assess the aspiring talents alongside special guest judges, which will be announced on the Real Salt Lake website, Facebook fan page, and Twitter feed (@RealSaltLake) in the upcoming days.

Those interested in auditioning will be asked to complete a registration form, which is available online by clicking here. Please note that participants can also "walk-in" during the tryouts, but will be slotted into the auditions around those that have already secured a tryout time.

Real Salt Lake will open its 2011 home schedule with at least two contests during the month of March, beginning on Tuesday, March 1, with the decisive second leg of its CONCACAF Champions League Quarterfinal Round series against fellow MLS rival, the Columbus Crew (8:00 p.m. MT kickoff). Should RSL emerge from that series, it would also play host to the winner of the CD Saprissa (Costa Rica) v. CD Olimpia (Honduras) series in Leg One of the Semifinal Round, likely to be held in Sandy on March 15. Real Salt Lake will kick off the home portion of its 2011 MLS slate on Saturday, March 26, with a high-profile contest against Landon Donovan, David Beckham, Juan Pablo Angel and the rest of the Los Angeles Galaxy, with kickoff set for 7:00 p.m. MT.

Fans can secure their seats now for both the March 1 contest vs. Columbus and the March 26 showdown with the Galaxy via the "RSL 2011 2-Pack" (including two tickets to both contests beginning at just $80) and the "RSL 2011 Flex 10-Pack" (beginning at $200).
