Real Salt Lake Match Preview: RSL at Toronto FC
August 26, 2010 - Major League Soccer (MLS)
Real Salt Lake News Release
SANDY, Utah (Thursday, August 26, 2010) - There will be no rest for Real Salt Lake (11-4-6, 39 pts.) after Wednesday's epic CONCACAF Champions League contest at Cruz Azul, as the defending MLS Cup champs will skip over the United States and proceed straight to the Canadian shores of Lake Ontario for Saturday's MLS regular season match-up at Toronto FC (7-8-5, 26 pts.). Kickoff between the pair of CCL Group A cohorts from BMO Field for Saturday's affair is set for 5:00 p.m. MT for a contest that can be seen on KUSG 2.2 / Comcast 111 / Dish 12 and also followed live on ESPN 700 (America First Credit Union Pre-match Report begins at 4:00 p.m.), ESPN Deportes 1600-AM, Homero 106.1-FM, and RSL's Twitter feed.
Saturday's contest at BMO Field will wrap up the 2010 regular season series between Real Salt Lake and Toronto FC, but it by no means will be the last time the two squads see each other. Quite the contrary, as the weekend clash will mark the first of three meetings in one month's time, next in Sandy on Sept. 15 in both squads' return to CCL play in Matchweek #3, followed by another meeting in Toronto during Matchweek #5 on Sept. 28. RSL kicked off this year's series with a 2-1 win back on May 1 at Rio Tinto Stadium, first half goals from DF Jamison Olave and MF Andy Williams proving enough to defeat the Canadian club. That result brought the all-time ledger between the two sides even at 3-3-1, however, RSL has not tasted much success north of the border, as the Utahns followed a scoreless draw in its first trip to Ontario in 2007 with a pair of 0-1 defeats in each of the last two seasons.
