
Chicago Fire Rookie Goalkeeper Sean Johnson Earns NAPA MLS Save of the Week Award

CHICAGO, IL (August 26, 2010) - Chicago Fire rookie goalkeeper Sean Johnson picked up his third NAPA MLS Save of the Week Award this month after making a crucial stop in the Chicago Fire's loss 4-3 against Houston Dynamo. Johnson dove to parry Dynamo midfielder Brian Mullan's blast from the top of the box, keeping the game level at 0-0 in the 15th minute.
Johnson earned 70 percent of the vote, topping current San Jose Earthquakes and former Chicago Fire goalkeeper Jon Busch save of a Landon Donovan shot in the SJ Earthquakes - LA Galaxy matchup.
The 21-year-old rookie, has garnered four NAPA MLS Save of the Week nominations in the month of August, previously taking home the Award in his MLS debut in the Fire's 3-2 victory over the LA Galaxy Aug. 1. The University of Central Florida product followed up his initial award winning performance with a seven save outing against New York Red Bulls strike duo Thierry Henry and Juan Pablo Angel. His last second save of an Angel shot earned Johnson his second consecutive win in his second MLS start as the Fire's goalkeeper.
The Fire challenge Seattle Sounders FC at Qwest Field in Seattle this Saturday, Aug. 28 at 9:30 PM CT (Comcast SportsNet), and will return to TOYOTA PARK to face the league-leading LA Galaxy on Saturday, Sept. 4 at 3:00 PM CT (Comcast SportsNet/TeleFutura).
