Real Monarchs News Release
HERRIMAN, Utah - Real Monarchs SLC and defender Michael Gallagher have mutually agreed to part ways citing personal opportunities elsewhere, Real Monarchs SLC General Manager Dan Egner announced today.
"As a club, we can't thank Gally enough for his contributions the last two seasons," Egner said. "He's always been professional in his approach, and we felt this was the right thing to do in order for him to pursue some new opportunities outside of soccer. We wish him nothing but the best as he moves on."
Gallagher, 24, featured in 34 total matches for the Monarchs across two seasons after arriving prior to the 2017 season. The centerback made 26 starts for the Monarchs, totaling 2,518 minutes. Gallagher helped the Monarchs to the 2017 USL Regular-Season Championship Shield in his first year with the club. Prior to his arrival to the Monarchs, Gallagher spent the 2016 season with Portland Timbers 2 where he played in 24 matches making 21 starts for T2 while playing 1946 minutes.
Real Monarchs SLC are set face Orange County SC on Wednesday, September 19 at 8:00 p.m. MT in a battle between the Western Conference's top-two sides. The Monarchs return Zions Bank Stadium on September 29 to face Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC at 7:00 p.m. MT. Tickets to the match can be purchased at RealMonarchs.com or by calling 844.REAL.TIX.
