Real Monarchs SLC Host Phoenix Rising FC in High-Profile Western Conference Clash
July 27, 2018 - United Soccer League Championship (USL)
Real Monarchs News Release
HERRIMAN, Utah - Real Monarchs SLC (13-5-2, 41 points, 1 West) welcomes Phoenix Rising FC to Zions Bank Stadium on Saturday, July 28th in a battle between the Western Conference's top-two clubs. Interim Head Coach Jamison Olave will look to keep his side undefeated on home soil through nine matches in 2018 to improve upon its 8-0-1 home record.
Saturday's match affords the Monarchs the opportunity to establish a minimum four-point lead atop the Western Conference with a victory over second place Phoenix. The Monarchs can claim a four-point or higher lead atop the conference pending other results across the league in Week 20 of United Soccer League play.
The first ever "Christmas in July" match will take place in Herriman on Saturday with all Real Salt Lake & Utah Royals FC season ticket members receiving FREE tickets to the match. Additionally, children's tickets to the match are also FREE and can be purchased by using promo code XMAS online at RealMonarchs.com/promo. General admission tickets to this weekend's high-profile bout with Phoenix start at just $9 and can be purchased online at RealMonarchs.com/schedule or by calling 844.REAL.TIX.
The Monarchs and Rising FC have met on one previous occasion this season in Week 3, a match that saw MF Sebastian Velasquez notch the lone goal in the 56th minute to secure the three valuable road points in early-April. The win leveled the all-time series between the two sides for the Monarchs with five wins apiece.
Coming off a frustrating 2-4 loss at San Antonio FC last weekend, the Utah side aims to keep Zions Bank Stadium unblemished when it hosts the team with the league's third best goal differential from Phoenix. At home this season, the Monarchs have outscored opponents 17-4 while earning six home shutouts on the year.
