HERRIMAN, Utah - Real Monarchs SLC (12-10-7, 43 points, 6 West) wraps up its three-game stretch away from home against Reno 1868 FC on Saturday, September 28 in Reno, Nevada. Kickoff from Greater Nevada Field is set for 7:00 p.m. MT and can be seen live on ESPN+.
Real Monarchs enter Saturday's contest after falling by a 3-1 scoreline at Rio Grande Valley FC last Saturday. The two sides fought for supremacy throughout the first half before the Toros broke the stalemate with a converted penalty kick opportunity. After the break, Real Monarchs came out of the lockers swinging, looking for the equalizing goal but it would be RGV that would go on to score twice more to further its lead. The Monarchs were able to pull one back through FW Damian German who tallied his third goal on the season shortly after subbing onto the pitch.
Real Monarchs are still fighting for the right to host in the USL Championship Playoffs by securing 4th in the Western Conference as it heads into its final five games of the season. The last time Reno 1868 FC and Real Monarchs met was at Zions Bank Stadium in early-April that saw the Monarchs control a 3-1 victory behind goals from MFs Jack Blake and Maikel Chang as well as RSL man FW Joao Plata. As the Monarchs look to secure a playoff berth, Reno 1868 FC has already clinched a playoff berth.
