Austin Wranglers News Release
AUSTIN, TEXAS, March 8, 2005 â Families and students spending Spring Break in Austin need to look no further than the Austin Wranglers for rowdy fun and excitement.
The Austin Wranglers kick off "The Cattle Drive on I-35" when they take on the Dallas Desperados â their in-state rivals â on Sunday, March 13 at 3 p.m. at the Frank Erwin Center. At the end of Spring Break week, the Wranglers host their first Saturday night game on March 19 when they face off against the New York Dragons.
Arena football action is fast-paced and action-packed, where teams regularly combine to score more than 80 points and can win or lose in the last seconds of the game. Case in point: during last weekend's game against the Las Vegas Gladiators, the Wranglers scored a touchdown in the last five seconds of the game to win 42-41. The Wranglers have won two out of their last three games.
Spring Break Special
For Austinites looking for double-the-fun, the Wranglers are offering a Spring Break Special where Austin Wranglers fans can go to both home games for the price of one. Fans who buy tickets in designated sections for the Dallas Desperados game will get free tickets to the New York Dragons game. Tickets start as low as $15 (student tickets start at $5). Seats are limited for this offer; call (512) 477-6060 or go to austinwranglers.com.
"The Cattle Drive on I-35" continues this year when the rival Dallas Desperados come to town. The Wranglers invite Rowdy Wranglers, fans with painted faces and dressed in Wrangler gear, to come out and be loud as the Wranglers show the Desperados what Central Texas football is all about.
To celebrate the first Saturday night game on March 19, the Wranglers invite fans to dress in â70s attire and enjoy "Saturday Night Fever" at the Frank Erwin Center. The coin toss will be conducted by Texas Lottery Commissioner Tony Martinez as part of Texas Lottery Night. Popular Texas band Reckless Kelly will perform the National Anthem.
