July 26, 2022 - Eastern League (EL)
Reading Fightin Phils News Release

The Reading Fightin Phils were walked-off 7-6 by the Erie SeaWolves in the bottom of the tenth inning. Reading had a four run lead that slipped away and by the eighth inning the SeaWolves had taken the lead. Reading tied it up forcing extras and even took the lead in the tenth. But Erie matched every move and walked it off to end the game.

Reading plated the first run of the game when Kevin Vicuna singled home Jhailyn Ortiz.

The team tacked on two more in the third as Jonathan Guzman cruised home on a passed ball. Simon Muzziotti then drove in Sal Gozzo to put the Fightins up 3-0.

In the fourth, Muzziotti smashed a sacrifice fly to right. Reading led 4-0.

Erie started their comeback in the bottom half. Dane Myers's sacrifice fly gave them their first run of the game.

In the next frame, Quincy Nieporte doubled home two runs to put the SeaWolves within one.

A Parker Meadow's single combined with an error from the Fightins let their opponents plate the tying run at four apiece.

A leadoff homer by Dillion Dingler in the top of the eighth gave Erie the go-ahead run to lead 5-4.

After back-to-back walks issued to Wendell Rijo and Logan O'Hoppe, Ortiz drove in the tying run in the top of the ninth.

Erie worked to get runners in scoring position in the bottom half but failed to score sending things to extras.

In the top of the tenth, AJ Graffanino was the placed runner on second. Aldrem Corredor hit a ground ball up the middle. An error allowed Graffanino to score and the R-Phils led 6-5.

Erie worked quickly in the tenth as a wild pitch let their placed runner move to second and he came home on a Myers single. With the game tied once again, and the go-ahead runner on third, Manager Shawn Williams reset the defense. He brought the runners in to the infield grass and instructed Vicuna to go from left field to the right of second base for a five man infield. Daniel Cabrera drove in the winning run and Erie walks it off 7-6.

Ethan Lindow got the start pitching four and two thirds. He gave up three hits and three runs, although just one earned. He walked four batters and struck out six.

Mike Adams finished the fifth with a strikeout. The righty came out for the sixth letting up two hits and one run, unearned.

Adam Leverett allowed a leadoff homer on the first pitch of the seventh, but got the rest of the outs needed.

Billy Sullivan had baserunners in the ninth but got out of the inning clean to send it to extras.

McKinley Moore took the tenth. Two runs scored on his watch as Erie walked it off.
